From the Curator Bruno Vinhas:
Hannah Rothschild is a Canadian and Israeli artist who lived in Canada from 2004 to 2020. She is currently working on several art and curatorial projects in Israel and Canada. Her work is influenced by her role as a clinical therapist specializing in helping victims of trauma and abuse, her connection to nature and her experience as an immigrant. Inspired by the fiber creations of spiders and caterpillars, Hannah Rothschild's meticulous hand wrapping technique invites dialogue with nature and the Self. In this exhibition, the artist invites the public to contemplate a cluster of suspended cocoons in which one can safely rest and ponder the concepts of need, want, and habit. The experience symbolizes decay and transformation over time, along with the tracing of the old and the creation of something new.
This exhibition was supported by the Ontario Arts Council through their grant programming.
