In the exhibition UnAttached, Hannah Rothschild explores her personal habitat as a wild territory, where life and death struggles take place. For two years, she observed and documented the small and large lives that swarm around her house, collected,
gathered, deconstructed and put together the
elements of her biosphere story.
UnAttached is a different ethical perspective, close
in spirit to the words of James Hillman, in the
opening quote: "The world [is] not only a coded
signature to be read for meaning, but a physiognomy to be faced. As expressive forms, things speak [...] They announce themselves, bear witness to their
presence: 'Look, here we are'". Here dove feathers
blossom from dry bark; the wings of a dragonfly
carry the body of an emaciated lizard; parakeet
foliage rises from dead roots; air gun pellets balance leafy feathers.
