Originally presented in my solo exhibition at the World of Threads Festival in Oakville, Ontario, Cocoons is an installation of hand-wrapped fiber forms suspended from a wooden branch.
Following the exhibition, the work was selected for a long-term rental and display at Halton Healthcare in Oakville, where it has been exhibited for approximately four years.
Evoking protective shells, feminine bodies and the transformative process of metamorphosis, the cocoons hold an intimate space between concealment and emergence. Within the healthcare environment, the installation invites reflection on vulnerability, protection, healing and the quiet processes of change.
