This series spontaneously emerged after finding dried wild grapevine tendrils beneath a fallen tree in a forest. The once-thriving symbiosis between tree and vine reminded me of our tendency to cling to stagnant relationships, freezing in place. When the supporting tree fell, the vine, relying on new energy, had to initiate a fresh climb and find a new source of support. In my art, the dry grape vines symbolize the need to let go of fossilized attachments, trusting our capacity to seek new sources of growth after everything familiar collapses.
