Using printed transparencies and red thread, Transformation explores a woman’s relationship with herself and her environment through acts of deconstruction and reconstruction. Emerging from my earlier work Women Inside a Pomegranate, the series asks: Is the woman trapped or protected? Is the movement inward or outward? What does the red thread hold together—or unravel?
The red thread becomes both wound and repair, boundary and connection. It reflects the invisible emotional architecture shaped by trauma: fear, dissociation, isolation, mistrust, and the struggle to reclaim identity and safety.
My work as a clinical social worker and art therapist specializing in trauma and sexual abuse deeply informs this series. Trauma affects the body, memory, and one’s relationship to self and others. Because trauma is often stored nonverbally, art becomes a powerful language for expression, witnessing, and healing.
These works give form to what is often difficult to say—vulnerability, fragmentation, survival, and post-traumatic growth. Through them, I hope to create awareness, compassion, and dialogue, and to help break the silence surrounding trauma.
